Several weeks ago, many readers thoughtfully shared their personal views and opinions on why home ownership is the American Dream. Though federal government policies have existed to promote a "homeownership society," many readers commented that it wasn't the mortgage interest deductions or other financial incentives that propelled them to pursue owning their own home. While the tax breaks help, it appears that many want to live in their own house due to other reasons, mainly related to landlord-tenant issues.
